TRINITY SUNDAY
Our worship will be led by Revd Katherine Pickering
"God: a glimpse behind the curtain" is the topic of this week's THRIVE
We will read from:
Romans 8.verses 12-17.
The preservation of the Aramaic ‘Abba’ is significant. Here Paul describes the work of the Spirit as enabling Christian men and women to share in Jesus’ relationship to his Father, speaking to God as he did. We should notice that ‘Abba’ is not a childish term, but would be used respectfully by adults. We are to be the grown-up children of God, beginning to receive our inheritance as we share Christ’s compassion, whatever it costs us, thereby sharing his risen life.
John 3.1-17
Many believed in Jesus ‘because they saw the signs that he was doing’ (2:23), but Jesus requires more than a superficial response to signs. With Nicodemus’ recognition that ‘these signs’ reveal ‘the presence of God’ there begins a conversation between them that is ongoing.
