3rd Sunday Worship is different! It has it’s origins in our ‘lockdown’ Zoom services in which we made extensive use of audio and video content, lots of images and shorter, perhaps more creative ways of preaching the unchanging message of God’s inclusive unconditional love for all.
As with any service the content of 3rd Sunday Worship - abbreviated to 3SW - is the prerogative of the minister or preacher leading worship, but on any given (3rd) Sunday will look something like this:
Informal. 3SW will contain all the essential elements of worship – prayer, scripture, confession, preaching etc., - it’s just done differently
Contemporary in style and language. No ‘churchspeak’ – the language used should be accessible to all no matter where we are on our spiritual journey
The congregation may be seated around tables and may share tea, coffee and a chat during
the service.
A mix of traditional (subject to accessible language) and contemporary hymns and worship songs
The Sunday Club remain throughout the service
Something for all ages during the course of the service.
Involves the congregation
Uses available resources in terms of music, drama, poetry, reading, prayers etc.
Makes appropriate use of available technology including video, audio and other imagery
